Questions to take beyond the showflat

Separate the display experience from the details of a specific home.

A showflat can help you ask questions about a home, but the display alone does not answer every question about the exact unit under consideration. Bring a written checklist and record what still needs confirmation.

Identify the exact unit

Note the project, block, stack, floor and unit type being discussed. Ask which features shown are included and which are display treatments. Request the relevant plans and specifications, and check them with your advisers where needed.

Look at everyday use

Consider storage, circulation and where your ordinary furniture would go. Ask about the dimensions or details you cannot establish from the display. Do not infer the outlook, light or noise of a particular unit from the showroom.

Visit the surroundings

Where access permits, look at the actual area and the journeys that matter to you. Distinguish existing amenities from proposed ones. Record the source and status of any future plans instead of treating a marketing illustration as a certainty.

Take unresolved questions away

Ask for important answers in writing and review the applicable documents before committing. Refer to URA’s official buying-property guidance for the purchase process and consult qualified professionals for personal advice.
